Amazon Flex’s Driver Appreciation Week: A Recap

From September 14th to 20th, Amazon Flex celebrated Driver Appreciation Week, an occasion with the aim to pay tribute to the hard work and dedication of the drivers of the platform. Here’s a recap and what the actual drivers think about it.

Amazon Flex stated in their official blog page, “As an Amazon Flex delivery partner, you deliver more than packages, and we appreciate the extra mile you go to make each delivery a success. Thanks for all you do! We encourage you [to… thank drivers] across the United States and Canada for delivering smiles every day.”

A video is posted, featuring the unwavering dedication of Amazon Flex drivers to deliver packages to their customers.

So, how were the Amazon Flex drivers able to enjoy the perks during those days? Well, while there are literally no monetary perks and benefits, the official LinkedIn of Amazon’s transportation, shipping, and logistics indicated ways on how you could show your appreciation for the drivers. These include:

  • Keeping outdoor lights turned on for better visibility
  • Securing pets when you know a delivery is about to arrive
  • Offering a wave, kind word, or say “Alexa, thank my driver” to an Alexa-enabled device

“Every day, delivery drivers help keep things moving by bringing what we need, right to our doors. This week is Driver Appreciation Week!” stated the LinkedIn account.

However, surprise, surprise. Not every Amazon Flex driver is happy about what they got throughout Driver Appreciation Week.

For instance, there is this post circulating from netizen Nicole Gee on Facebook, showing how they got this keepsake this year, but what’s indicated is “2024.”

“For those of you excited about appreciation week…” she wrote. “There is no extra pay…. This is what you get… Lol”

The other netizen commented, “And it’s from 2024 (emojis)”

However, Gee clarified that this was from last year, but the experience this year was not like last year, adding there was nothing she got from Driver Appreciation Week this year.

A netizen who prefers not to be identified posted this on the Amazon drivers community on Facebook: “I’m so confused it’s driver appreciation week so what are they doing for us to show that they appreciate us?? Lol”

“They’re gonna give everybody the worst routes ever and make you drive farther than you ever have before,” netizen Michael Snider commented on the post.

“Take yourself for ice cream,” Kevin Regis commented.

“They are giving $1000 to all of us (emoji) we’ll get it in a few days,” netizen Lina Tavarez quipped, but hoping.

Amazon Flex pertains to the gig economy service that lets you earn money by delivering Amazon packages and other items using your own vehicle and schedule to the customers of Amazon.

You launch and log into the Amazon Flex app to find and reserve delivery “Blocks,” before you pick up packages from a designated location and deliver them right to the customers. You get paid weekly via direct deposit for the delivery blocks you complete.
