Amazon Flex Driver In Mishawaka, Indiana Does First-Time Deliveries… It’s Their Last, Too

It’s another day, another story here on Ridesharingforum.com! Ever been to a situation when it’s your first day on the job, but you decided to also file a resignation? This doesn’t happen in Myanmar, but this Amazon Flex driver in Mishawaka, Indiana did a delivery to a rural home, and is saying she would never do so again.

The Amazon Flex driver, Christine Rodgers, warned others as she had been to a barn in a rural area in Mishakawa, but went through a really dark area, and the address was on the siding so she thought it was a garage.

Amazon offered their official statement regarding this matter, saying, “It’s important to reinforce that no driver is expected to complete a delivery if they feel unsafe to do so.”

So, what happened, really? That night, she realized she’s headed to a wrong direction, so she turned on her headlights to the house, and stood at the door wearing her Amazon uniform. Upon completing the delivery, one of the homeowners walked out.

And, the homeowner had a gun! And telling her to put those hands up!

Oh my Gosh, it’s like straight from a crime movie!

“I put my hands up like he asked me to. Then he said, ‘Who are you? Why are you on my property?’ And I said, ‘I’m an Amazon driver… I’m delivering your package,’” she recalled.

And, the reason for asking her to put those hands up, the homeowner wanted to make sure she’s “legit.” Well, what do you expect from the people in the countryside, right?

The police confirmed that the homeowner was actually a police officer, too, with Roseland Police, but denied that he was armed.

However, that encounter with the homeowner was enough to make her leave Amazon Flex once and for all. Is it traumatic? Yes, it’s traumatic for her.

“I haven’t been outside. I haven’t been nowhere. I haven’t ate. I haven’t slept. I haven’t been to my main job,” Rodgers said. “It was just that simple thing that caused a whole bunch of fear in my life. I don’t want to even think about seeing another police officer. I don’t even want to think about going into somebody’s house at nighttime.”

The conclusion: it’s always best to keep safe. Do you have a similar encounter? What are your thoughts on this matter? Open your account tonight on RSF to share your thoughts! Okay, ‘til then!
