Amazon Flex Australia Happy To Be Among The Platform Delivery Safety Principles' Founding Signatories

The feeling is like being a signatory in the USA’s First Amedment back in history!

The Australian division of Amazon Flex is proud to be amongst the founding signatories of the Platform Delivery Safety Principles.

The Platform Delivery Safety Principles is developed by the National Road Safety Partnership Program and Monash University Accident Research Centre, with other industry members playing their roles and collaborating as well.

These Principles are what they say they are. They focus on five key areas: communication and education, safety tools and equipment, stakeholder engagement, incident management, and standards and support systems.

Its proponent, the National Road Safety Partnership Program, is actually hosted by the Monash University Accident Research Centre, providing tools, evidences, and support to enhance the safety, increase the productivity, and reduce crashes on the road.

It is an Australian collaborative network designed to help entrepreneurs, governments, and organizations build a positive and proactive road safety culture.

“At Amazon, safety is our top priority,” Amazon Flex told Ridesharing Forum. “This deep commitment shapes everything we do, from providing safety resources and protective equipment to driving technology innovations, policies, and industry collaboration.”

The clauses of the Principles reflect the ongoing work on Amazon Flex, not just in Australia, but across the globe.

The delivery partners of Amazon Flex have been getting protective gear, including water-resistant backpacks, sunscreen, headlamps, and vehicle magnets.

“Everyone, including Amazon Flex delivery partners, must wear closed-heel-and-toe shoes and high-visibility safety vests at delivery stations and during deliveries. The Emergency Help button in the app gives delivery partners direct access to emergency services and support. Finally, we collaborate with stakeholders to continuously improve safety standards,” Amazon Flex Australia went on.

And, did you know that DoorDash, Uber Eats, and outdoor apparel brand Sherpa are also founding signatories here?

"By becoming a founding signatory, we’re proud to set an example for the industry, and reinforce our commitment to safety for delivery partners and the broader community. This aligns with Amazon’s vision to set the standard for safety excellence across every industry where we operate. The principles are owned and maintained by National Road Safety Partnership Program and Monash University, with signatories meeting annually to discuss safety trends and policy developments,” Amazon Flex also noted.
