Ben Minicucci, the CEO of Alaska Air Group – the parent company of Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air – is now part of the directorial board of Lyft.
“Whether you’re running an airline or a rideshare platform, success comes from earning trust, building loyalty, and offering a safe and reliable experience every day,” Minicucci stated about this career breakthrough. “Lyft has built a strong brand and a clear focus on customers, and I’m excited to join the Board and work with the team as they continue to grow and create value for riders, drivers, and shareholders.”
According to his official LinkedIn profile, which features the cover image of an aircraft, he has been with Alaska Airlines for 22 years and seven months, holding the following positions: Staff Deputy for Maintenance, Deputy of Seattle Operations, Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Executive, President, and then, CEO.
Before that, he was the CEO of Virgin America, and the Aircraft Maintenance Deputy of Air Canada.
He is also well-studied. He took a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada, took a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the same school, and took an Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School Executive Education. So, it is only right that he holds top positions in these top companies!
Minicucci is the most recent director to join Lyft’s Board of Directors. He is expected to bring in his public company, operating, and international experience, especially that Lyft is scaling its ambitions, following the addition of AV safety and police expert Deborah Hersman, who was welcomed earlier this year. Way to go!
The three airlines that he previously worked with travel to the following destinations:
- Alaska Airlines: Travels to Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Anchorage, Honolulu, Portland, and San Diego
- Hawaiian Airlines: Travels to Honolulu, Maui, Kona, Lihue, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Tokyo
- Horizon Air: Travels to Seattle, Portland, Spokane, Boise, Eugene, Medford, and Santa Rosa
Today, Minicucci is based in Seattle. He spends his leisure time cycling with friends and traveling around the world, especially Italy. This is also the perfect place for him as he often uses Lyft after he lands at an airport, specifically Lyft XL that gives hime room for his bicycle.
