In July 2016 a female Uber driver picked up Gomez and drove him to his destination. When they reached the drop off zone, the rider urged the driver to park in the back of the apartment complex in a parking lot. As the driver reached for her smartphone app, the rider grabbed her by the wrist and groped her body. The driver managed to escape the assault and called 911 for help. Gomez was apprehended and is awaiting sentencing which is set for December 6, 2017.
