This time, let’s talk about foodpanda. In Singapore, the food delivery platform, one of the biggest in Southeast Asia, is making efforts to speed up its delivery process. In Malaysia, foodpanda has distributed thousands of free food packets to riders who have gone the extra mile during the recently held Ramadan.
foodpanda Singapore: Dark stores automation
In order to speed up its delivery processes, foodpanda Singapore has started automating its storage and retrieval system at its retail warehouses. This, with the use of artificial intelligence and robots that seek to optimize demand forecasting, inventory management, and order processing.
Kevin Zagolin, foodpanda’s director of quick commerce, stated, “Technology and data intelligence allow us to enhance the experience for our customers, merchants, and delivery partners, whilst improving the efficiency of internal operating processes.”
foodpanda is making all those possible with the help of Pandamart, which is the platform’s grocery store on the cloud. Pandamart operates as a network of microfulfillment centers, which supports on-demand deliveries not only of groceries, but also of household essentials and goods.
Pandamart utilizes data insights for the stocking of each cloud store with inventory customized to the demand of local consumers. Up next is a closer look.
For instance, if a particular product category, such as fruits in certain zones, meets with high demand in a particular city, Pandamart works by adjusting both the assortment and range of inventory in those locations to guarantee availability and to meet the needs of every customer.
Slow delivery time is among the chief problems that several consumers cry about when using platforms like foodpanda. This initiative seeks to address this. The media said more cars and vans will also be added to foodpanda’s network.
foodpanda Malaysia: Appreciating Ramadan dedication
The world is almost a month after Ramadan, but in Malaysia, foodpanda has found a way to thank drivers for their efforts of sacrificing their faith and spending Ramadan with their families to deliver food those who need them during this occasion. After all, they are looking at the long-term of earning for their family, too.
The Hong Leong Islamic Bank has started distributing 1,000 food packets to 300 foodpanda riders.
The bank is sponsoring buka puasa meals or breaking-the-fast meals for riders in Terengganu, Melaka, Perak, and Negeri Sembilan.
"Ramadhan is a time for gratitude and appreciation, and for many Muslims, it represents an opportunity to give back to the community,” stated Dafinah Ahmed Hilmi, the chief executive officer of Hong Leong Islamic Bank. “This year, we wanted to recognize the sacrifice and dedication of our e-hailing delivery riders, who in many ways are the unsung heroes of our country, especially during festive seasons. During Ramadhan, they brave the heavy traffic and face high volumes of orders, with a majority of them fasting themselves.”
This is not the only charitable program of the bank. They have also been tapping on their employees to donate meal kits and essential goods to welfare homes in Malaysia.
